The Bestower can hold a bit more cargo at the same level and is a bit faster but the Badger-II is much more durable (still a hauler and still pops easily but can hang in there a bit longer than the others) and much more flexible in what you can configure it to do. That said, for my money, the best L-3 hauler is a Badger-II (Caldari). Minmatar should really consider pushing to L-4 for the Mammoth since it is the best bang for the buck and is second overall only to the Mk-V. If you have zero desire to ever haul then pick the Bestower (Amarr) and do that one to L-1. Most people should train an industrial skill to L-3. Otherwise if you are doing Gallente bother only with the Mk-III or Mk-V (which rocks) if you can stomach the horrid training time to get one. For the time if you train industrial to L-4 get a Mammoth.MUCH better ship. Except for a slightly larger cargo than a Mk-III and an extra med-slot it is worse than a Mk-III in nearly every respect. I agree that the Iteron Mk-IV is not worthwhile. If you can't afford a separate mining and combat ship (and to be honest not many noobs can) then the Osprey is a great choice if you think you may want to do a bit of mining and pirate hunting (and missions too come to that!) The advantage of the Osprey was that when I got bored of mining, I could swap the mining lasers for railguns and go rat hunting. Cargo isn't great but if your using an Indy to haul this isn't really relevant. After that, I bought an Osprey which may seem like an odd can equip 2 miner IIs, plus missiles for defence and it has a fair sized drone bay. I mined with this and saved for a Badger (thereby allowing me to mine into a can and transport the ore with a Badger - much more efficient). (If you plan a longer vacation it might be an option, though nevertheless ) )Īfter my starter ship, I was lucky enough (via a generous Corp) to acquire a Merlin. ![]() Best bang for the buck, and unless you want to make hauling your profession it isnt really worth to spent a whole month training for a ship. If you want the best Indy there is: Iteron MKV. Training time should be around a day or so If you compare it to the others, then it becomes obvious that there are only 3 Indy's really worth the time to train them and none of them bleongs to the caldari race. It takes a lot of time to train up indy V What would I need to research to get this? The other frigates have little cargo space and cruisers are beyond your reach at this point. It's pretty slow, because you have to go back and forth between station and belt, but it's decent. However, if you simply want to start mining by yourself, without the industrial ship, then just get a Bantam and two Miner I lasers. Fill up the container to a certain amount, and then head back to station (hoping nobody steals your can), then take the Badger out to haul the minerals back to station. When you have filled your Bantam's hold, jettison the cargo and then rename the cargo container with the current time, since the containers will pop and your cargo will be lost after about 2 hours or so. This leaves no way to defend yourself except drones, so stick to high security space or train up in and acquire drones. The easiest and most efficient way to mine solo is to have the Bantam and the Badger in the same station, and then use the Bantam's Miner I's to mine. Later you will want the Mechanic skill, allowing you to use cargo expanders.Ģ.) Acquire a Bantam frigate and two Miner I mining lasers. Given your progress, I would say that you need to do two things:ġ.) Train in the Caldari Industrial skill and acquire a Badger industrial ship. However, it is still possible to mine efficiently with a Caldari ship. Preferably one with lots of mining laser slots and a large cargo hold.įirst of all, Caldari are not a great mining race. I just started playing EVE, which Caldari ship should I aspire to get? Thread Statistics | Show CCP posts - 0 post(s) » Click here to find additional results for this topic using Google
